Description
The Beaufort family's history dates back to the 16th century, during the reign of Charles IX of France. The family patriarch, Jean Beaufort, was a trusted advisor to the king and a shrewd businessman. His acumen in managing the royal estates and his investments in burgeoning industries of Bordeaux earned him the favor of the court and significant wealth. By the late 1500s, the Beauforts had established themselves as one of France’s preeminent noble families.
