𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐂𝐎𝐓𝐒 𝐆𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐒 "𝙉𝙚𝙢𝙤 𝙢𝙚 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙪𝙣𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙩" The Scots Guards, formed in 1642, is one of the oldest and most distinguished regiments of the British Army, with a history spanning over 375 years of combat and ceremonial service. The Scots Guards trace their origins to 1642 when Archibald Campbell, 1st Marquess of Argyll, raised a regiment in Scotland in response to the Irish Rebellion and the escalating tensions of the British Civil Wars (1642–1651) to serve as King Charles I’s personal bodyguard. Initially, the regiment served in Scotland and Ireland, remaining loyal to the monarchy during the Civil War. After the execution of Charles I, the regiment briefly disbanded but was re-raised by Charles II following the Restoration in 1660, merging independent Scottish companies to form what became the Scots Guards.
