23rd Regiment of Foot "Royal Welsh Fuzileers" The 23rd is a regular regiment of the British Army, raised in Wales in 1689 by Lord Herbert of Chirbury. During the Seven Years' War the regiment campaigned in Europe taking part in most of the major battles of the war. When the American War for Independence started the regiment was already posted to North America. Engagements: Bunker Hill, Long Island, Brooklyn Heights, White Plains, Germantown, Yorktown.
