Description
𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 The Capetian dynasty began in France in 987 with the election of Hugh Capet as king, following the death of the last Carolingian ruler, Louis V. Hugh Capet, previously the Duke of France and Count of Paris, was chosen by the French nobility due to his significant influence and control over key territories. His ascent to the throne marked a shift towards a more stable and hereditary monarchy in France. The Capetian dynasty established a foundation of continuity and growth for the French kingdom, ruling for over three centuries. Hugh Capet's successors, including his son Robert II and subsequent generations, gradually strengthened royal authority and expanded their domain. This period set the stage for the eventual emergence of France as a dominant European power. The Capetians are credited with laying the groundwork for modern France through their efforts to centralize authority and develop a cohesive state. 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 See social links ⭐
