Description
Welcome to the 6th Louisiana Tigers, one of the most fierce and colorful units of the American Civil War. Formed in 1861, the 6th Louisiana Infantry Regiment was part of the famous Louisiana Tigers, a group known for their bold fighting spirit and often unruly behavior. Comprised of men from New Orleans and surrounding areas, they quickly gained a reputation on the battlefield for their fearlessness and tenacity. The 6th Louisiana fought in many major battles of the Eastern Theater, including Antietam, Gettysburg, and the Wilderness, often facing overwhelming odds with unmatched determination. Though their ranks were worn down by casualties, disease, and desertion, their legacy lives on as a symbol of the grit, complexity, and tragedy of the Confederate experience during the war. Their story reminds us of the human side of history—brave, flawed, and ultimately shaped by the era in which they lived. Founded: 2023
