Description
The name Turopolje was mentioned in the collection of Archdeacon Ivan Gorički, in which, among other churches of the Zagreb diocese, it is stated: I lem ecclesiae de Campo Turouo. The name therefore does not come from the Turks. it was called Turopolje Campus Zagrabiensis, Zagrebačko Polje, and only in that century did the name Turopolje (Campus Thuropolya, districtus Thuropolia) begin to appear, for the first time, when the assembly of nob les of the Kingdom of Croatia was held there. Furthermore, that name is used more and more often, until the name Campus Zagrabiensis was completely supplanted.
