The British East India Company -circa 1780s Southeast Asian Affairs ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ The East India Company was a private company formed to conduct trading primarily for the company's and the British Empire's own interests in the East Indies. The British were looking to gain a foothold in the continent by commencing their relations with colonies of European super powers and the Kingdom of Rattanakosin. The company was actively searching for benefits until tin mining industries of Chinese Immigrants in Thalang (modern-day Phuket) caught their eyes. Many merchants of the English East India Company settled on the Island of Phuket by this time.
