Description
Assalam Alikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatu! Remember to Pray Salah 5 times a day with Sunnah and give charity and read the Holy Qur’an everyday. :) The Burji Mamluk Sultanate was a dynasty located in Western Asia in modern day Egypt, Hejaz and the Levant. The Burji Mamluks succeeded the Bahri Mamluks who origins were from Central Asia in 1382. The Burji Mamluks were from mostly from Circassia in the modern day Caucasus region. The Mamluks were primarily elite cavalry who struck fear in their enemies by their discipline, horse archery skill, swordsmanship and their capabilities of using the lance. The Burji Mamluks eventually declined and were defeated by the Ottoman Empire under Sultan Selim I in the 16th century who was a brilliant leader in tactics and utilised elite Janissaries armed with matchlock muskets, Sipahis, Pikemen, and cannons. Eventually losing Cairo the last Abbasid Khalifa was abolished which was a position that lasted from 750-1517 AD.
