They also served in a ceremonial capacity, guarding the emperor and participating in state functions. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ The Chevaliers Garde Regiment was established in 1800 by Emperor Paul I. It was one of the elite guard regiments of the Russian Imperial Army, created to serve as a personal bodyguard to the Emperor and a prestigious heavy cavalry unit. The regiment played both ceremonial and battlefield roles, often being present at important state functions and in major military engagement.
