𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭 — 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐨𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐥𝐞 “From the Black and Gold We Rise, Seven Shields Guard Our Legacy” ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ House Markolyn of Markendale is a noble house that has ruled over the major city of Markendale and the surrounding lands in the Crownlands for centuries. The Markolyns blazon their arms with fusily black and gold, featuring seven white shields upon a red tierce. The seven white shields represent the seven Markolyns who were knights of the White Cloaks. During Vaelon's Conquest, Vaelon and his half-brother Orin Cervondor defeated the Markolyns of Markendale in Vaelon's first test of using dragons against land armies. The Markolyns bent the knee shortly after the battle. Ser Robin Markolyn, called Robinhood, was among the first seven knights of the White Cloaks. Seven Markolyns eventually joined the Kingsguard, more than any other house in the Crownlands.
