𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐎𝐅 𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐍 𝐒𝐎𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐔𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐒 With the Soviet Union effectively collapsed, and the Far Eastern Front isolated in Irkutsk, Malinovsky recognized the need to establish a new power structure to maintain order and resist the Axis powers. In 1945, he declared the formation of the Union of Eastern Socialist Republics (UESR), a coalition of the eastern Soviet republics and regions that had not fallen under Axis control. The UESR aimed to preserve the ideals of socialism and continue the fight against fascism, despite the disintegration of the central Soviet government.
