🎺𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐖𝐈𝐆 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐔𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐂 📆1920s-40s 📜During the Great War, a radical Danish independence movement in Schleswig gained momentum due to dissatisfaction with Germany's handling of the war. In 1920, with British and French support, they secured Slesvig's independence through a majority vote, of which was controversial in the German populations. The new republic's borders were set between the Kongeåen and Eider Rivers. Slesvig remained quiet until seeking relations with Denmark in 1933, followed by Britain and France in 1938.
