Founded in 1650 by General George Monck during the English Civil War, they were initially formed as part of the Parliamentarian forces. The Coldstream Guards later became part of the British Army after the restoration of the monarchy in 1660. |-| MISSION |-| The mission of the Coldstream Guards is to serve both ceremonially and operationally.
