The Northmere Constabulary was officially formed in 1965, during a time of civil unrest and a hightening crime rate. Originally mustering around 950 men to serve the county and its residents. In the 1970s an inquiry was launched into the Constabulary's handling of the Victoria City Riots, which resulted in the death of 12 Residents and 7 Constables, the inquiry uncovered a network of corruption and misconduct internally. This was followed by numerous reforms in an attempt to ease public relations.
