The Leap Frogs are the official parachute demonstration team of the U.S. Navy, based at Naval Special Warfare Command in Coronado, California. Founded in 1969 by volunteer UDT and SEAL operators, the team was formally commissioned by the Chief of Naval Operations in 1974 and has since been recognized by the Department of Defense and Federal Aviation Administration . The squad consists of 10–15 active-duty Naval Special Warfare personnel—including Navy SEALs, Special Warfare Combat Crewmen, Navy Divers, EOD Technicians, and Aircrew Survival Equipmentmen—each serving a three-year demonstration tour before returning to operational duties. The U.S Navy Leap Frogs perform high-precision parachute demonstrations from altitudes around 6,000–12,000 feet, often incorporating colored smoke and complex canopy-formation stunts, and sometimes dropping flags or streamer passes to gauge wind conditions .
