𝓖𝓻𝓸ß𝓱𝓮𝓻𝔃𝓸𝓰𝓵𝓲𝓬𝓱 𝓗𝓮𝓼𝓼і𝓼𝓬𝓱𝓮 𝓜𝓲𝓵𝓲𝓽𝓪і𝓻 𝐺𝑜𝑡𝑡, 𝐸ℎ𝑟𝑒, 𝑉𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑑 The Grand Ducal Hessian Military referred to the land forces of the Grand Duchy of Hesse colloquially known as Hessen-Darmstadt. It would participate as an ally of France during the Napoleonic Wars as a member of the Confederation of the Rhine from 1806 to 1813, being reputed for the successes of its troops in the Peninsular War and the Russian Campaign. After the Battle of Leipzig, it would join the coalition armies for a final offensive into France in the 1814 and 1815 campaigns.
