The 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines (3/5) is an infantry battalion within the United States Marine Corps, part of the 1st Marine Division. Known as "Dark Horse," 3/5 has a long and storied history dating back to its formation in 1917. The battalion has been involved in many significant conflicts, including World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and more recent engagements in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is particularly renowned for its role in the Battle of Fallujah in Iraq and the Sangin District of Afghanistan, where it faced some of the heaviest fighting during those campaigns. The battalion is known for its toughness, resilience, and dedication to mission success. Based out of Camp Pendleton California
