▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬◙ The Goblins of Moria, also known as the Orcs of Moria, were the orcs that occupied Khazad-dûm after it was abandoned by Durin's Folk. The dwarves left after awakening the Balrog, and Khazad-dûm was renamed Moria, meaning "Black Pit" in Khuzdul. During the orc occupation, Moria was quiet until the Fellowship entered. The orcs became aware of their presence and attacked, but the Balrog, also known as Durin's Bane, was awakened and chased the Fellowship. The confrontation culminated at the Bridge of Khazad-dûm, where Durin's Bane faced Gandalf the Grey. In the end, the Fellowship escaped Moria. The battle between Durin's Bane and Gandalf continued at the top of Durin's Tower, where the Balrog was slain, and Gandalf also perished. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬◙
