3rd Gvardii Spetsnaz Brigade Warsaw-Berlin #35020496
Description
The 3rd Guards Separate 'Warsaw-Berlin Red Banner Order of Suvorov 3rd degree' Spetsnaz Brigade can be traced back to the 5th Separate Motorcycle Regiment of the Belarusian First Front Army established in March 1944. This unit was awarded the Red Flag Medal and Suvorov Medal for their heroic performance in combat and successful completion of various tasks, as well as the honorary title of "Guard". In the battles of liberating Warsaw and capturing Berlin, the regiment performed outstandingly and was known as the "Warsaw-Berlin Regiment". In 1966, the regiment was reorganized as The 3rd Guards Separate 'Warsaw-Berlin Red Banner Order of Suvorov 3rd degree' Spetsnaz Brigade, becoming the only Soviet special forces unit stationed in East Germany, facing the West German Defense Forces at the forefront of the East West confrontation.
