They are not bodyguards in any conventional sense. They are a barrier augmented, conditioned, and entirely without hesitation. Where standard Overwatch units respond to threats, KING units prevent them. An attack that reaches the Sectorial Commander has already passed through everything else first. KING ensures it does not pass through them.
