Drawn from villages, border towns, and distant provinces, these men are not phalangites — but hoplites, trained in traditional warfare with spear and aspis, ready to defend their homeland with grit and discipline. 🏞️ The Stratiokoi stand watch over city walls, mountain passes, and sacred roads. In times of war, they reinforce the royal army; in times of peace, they guard the kingdom’s soul.
