1980s To 1990s During the late 20th century, Colombia faced big challenges from powerful cartels like Medellín and Cali. These groups created a lot of disruption, affecting communities and increasing poverty, especially in rural areas where many relied on coca cultivation. Despite these tough times, people came together in grassroots movements, showing their resilience and working towards positive change and recovery.
