Description
COHORS I PRAETORIA The Praetorian Evocati were a specialized unit within the Praetorian Guard, composed of veteran soldiers who had been honorably discharged from active service. The Evocati served as elite soldiers who had previously completed their service but were called back to serve the emperor in various capacities, often due to their experience and skills. Evocati could also engage in combat when necessary, particularly in critical situations where their leadership and experience could turn the tide. They played a significant role in maintaining morale among troops, serving as exemplars of dedication and service to the Roman state.
