Cohors Palatinae #35154085
Description
COHORS PALATINAE The Cohors Palatinae was an elite unit in the Roman army, primarily associated with the imperial guard and stationed at the imperial palace. The term "Palatinae" comes from the Palatine Hill (Mons Palatinus), the center of imperial power in Rome, where the emperor's residence and the imperial court were located. The Cohors Palatinae was one of the principal military units tasked with protecting the emperor, his family, and the imperial palace. These units formed a part of the elite force called the Cohors Palatinae, which were distinct from the traditional legions.
