Description

Formally organized near Dumfries, Virginia in November of 1861, the brigade consisted of mainly Texas regiments. Including the 1st. 4th, and 5th Texas Infantries. They consisted of thirty-two companies raised during 1861 and 1862 in twenty-seven Texas counties. The brigade was most noteably led by John Bell Hood, of Kentucky. This group is a placeholder for all the Texas regiments of the Army of Northern Virginia.
