Description
Founded in 1204AD, the Empire of Nicaea was a successor state to the Eastern Roman Empire that was founded after the Fourth Crusade by roman aristocrats that fled Constantinople during the sacking of the city. The aristocrats regrouped at the former eastern roman city of Nicaea and established the Empire of Nicaea, a state that considered itself a successor state to the former Eastern Roman Empire and eventually reunited the empire after the reconquest of Constantinople in 1261AD.
