消防员，政府或民间团体所成立的救灾救人团体成员。消防员的职责主要为消灭火灾及救护服务，同时也参与其他救援工作。 消防员作为特殊的救护职业，需经过特殊的体能、技能及心理素质的训练，保证具备特殊的体能、技能及心理素质的要求。 2017年10月27日，世界卫生组织国际癌症研究机构公布的致癌物清单初步整理参考，消防员（职业暴露）在2B类致癌物清单中 2023年11月，经报党中央、国务院批准，建立消防救援纪念章制度。应急管理部首次颁发消防救援纪念章。
