3RD REGIMENT OF FOOT GUARDS, SCOTS GUARDS ELITE REGIMENT OF THE EMPIRE OF GREAT BRITAIN MOTTO: ‘’NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT’’ TRANSLATED: ‘’NO ONE PROVOKES ME WITH IMPUNITY’’ ♔▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬♚▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬♔ The 3rd Regiment of Foot Guards was raised in 1642 under the order of King Charles I for service in Ireland. From then, it was known as the Marquis of Argyll's Royal Regiment. In the mid-1640s during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms, the regiment took part in the fight against the 1st Marquess of Montrose, who was on the side of Charles I. In 1646, the Marquess left Scotland upon the defeat of the King. After the execution of Charles I and succession of Charles II, the regiment became known as the Lyfe Guard of Foot and would serve in Charles II's Household Guard. ♔▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬♚▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬♔ BATTLE HONOURS: Defence of Fort George Battle of Vitoria-Gasteiz
