𝐀𝐅𝐆𝐇𝐀𝐍 𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐘 '𝟕𝟗-'𝟖𝟕 The current Afghan Army was reformed after the 1978 Saur Revolution. Despite being equipped with modern Soviet weaponry, the army faced low morale, widespread desertions, and internal divisions due to ideological splits and tribal loyalties. In spite of its setbacks, the army played a key role in defending the government against the Mujahideen. Representing the Panjshir theatre of the Soviet-Afghan War.
