The House of Vatatzes (In Medieval Koine Greek: Βατάτζης) is a noble household that rose to prominence in the aftermath of the 4th Crusade. We are recognised for our inherent legacy of being a military family that produces good officers for the Roman Army. This household is home to numerous Illustrious figures such as Ioannes Doukas Vatatzes the III, a proven soldier who was chosen by his predecessor Theodore Laskaris the I and reigned sovereignly as the Basileios Autokrator of the Roman rump state of Nicea between the years of 1221 AD to 1254 AD. Our current impetus is to establish international bonds between other Noble/Royal Households, Communities, and Nations as a means to immerse people in our heritage and secure the succession of the title of "lord" or "Head of Household".
