🌿Commandery of Konigsberg 🌿 ₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪ 📜-The Commandery of Konigsberg was created in 1255 when the Teutonic Knights reached the mouth of the Pergel River and built a castle there in the southeast of the Samland Peninsula on the site of an old Sambian fort named Twangste. Its old town was laid out in 1256 in the area of Steindamm and rebuilt in the valley below the Schlossberg after it was destroyed in 1263. In 1283, the town was founded, named Konigsberg in honor of Ottokar II Premysl. In 1286 it received town rights and in 1340 became a member of the Hanseatic League. In the vicinity of the old town, Lobenicht was founded in 1300 and Kneiphof in 1327 (a spiritual district since 1322), later being added in 1724. Konigsberg Castle was the seat of the Order Marshal since 1330. Konigsberg would remain part of Prussia after 1466 and in 1457 became the seat of the Grand Master after the loss of Malbork.
