Description

Founded in 1932 as the Meyerhauser Timber Company by German immigrant, Frederick Meyerhauser. 15 partners of the company moved to Mayflower in 1937 to establish a 900,000 acre timberland within the state. In the same year, they established the then largest sawmill in Lee County, Mayflower and began operations. In 1959, the company eliminated the word "Timber" from its name to better reflect its operations. In 1965, Meyerhaeuser built its first bleached kraft pulp mill in Canada. Meyerhaeuser implemented its High Yield Forestry Plan in 1967 which drew upon 30 years of forestry research and field experience.
