FBI Hostage Rescue Team (HRT) The Federal Bureau of Investigation Hostage Rescue Team (FBI HRT) is an elite federal tactical unit assigned to the Chicago Field Office. HRT is activated only for the most dangerous and complex incidents where advanced tactical capabilities are required. In the City of Chicago, the FBI HRT works alongside local, state, and federal agencies to respond to high-risk operations that threaten public safety or national security.
