Description
The Department (Service) of State Security of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria was established in 1991. The staff of the department was formed from former employees of the KGB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR. The department made extensive use of the experience of Soviet law enforcement agencies and special services. The organization was repeatedly reformed and renamed, its functions were changed, staff was periodically reduced.
