Former employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs govern the republic. The existence of other survivors in the rest of the Metro is kept secret from the general populace by the leadership, as they believe making themselves known to others would pose a risk to the republic's safety. The republic engages in trades with Baumansky & Hanza, however it is kept in secrecy.
