Description
The Praetorian Guard was a body of elite soldiers who acted as bodyguards for the emperor of the Roman Empire. This tradition began in the Roman Republic, as generals, commanders, and consuls kept small guards at their tents. It was expanded into the true Praetorian Guard by Rome's Emperor VespasianSeptimus.
