Description
Macau manteve-se sob domínio português, consolidando-se como um importante entreposto comercial entre a China e o Ocidente. O território, que já estava sob controle português desde 1557, tornando-se um centro vital para o comércio de chá e seda. Em 1849, Macau foi oficialmente proclamada província portuguesa, mantendo certa autonomia administrativa.
