𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐍 𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐂 𝐄𝐂𝐂𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋 𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐎𝐂𝐓𝐀𝐕𝐈𝐔𝐌 With the Papal seat exiled in Madrid, a geopolitical battle raged between the Loyalists and the unsettled clergy fighting for influence within the disposed Church. Reaching its boiling point in 1951, with the resignation of Pope Hilario, a deadlock within the Papal Conclave left the Church without leadership, resulting in the creation of the Patriarchate behind closed doors in an attempt for power by the Camerlengo.
