Description
Kesultanan Serdang (nama resminya Negeri Kesultanan Serdang Darul Arif) adalah sebuah kesultanan yang berdiri pada tahun 1723 dan kemudian bergabung dengan Republik Indonesia tahun 1945. Kesultanan ini berpisah dari Deli dan menjadi subjek negara baru setelah Raja Urung Kedatukan Sunggal menobatkan raja pertama akibat sengketa takhta di internal Deli pada tahun 1720. Seperti kerajaan-kerajaan lain di Sumatra Timur, Serdang menjadi makmur karena dibukanya perkebunan tembakau, karet, dan kelapa sawit.
