Barclay ────── ─-⋆-─ ────── Barclay Records, a prominent French label under the Universal Music Group umbrella, was founded in 1953 by Eddie Barclay, a multifaceted figure known for his work as a bandleader, pianist, producer, and nightclub owner. Together with his wife, Nicole, a gifted vocalist, Eddie launched the label, which soon became a cornerstone in the French music scene. Barclay Records released works by jazz greats like Stéphane Grappelli, Lionel Hampton, and Rhoda Scott. In 1978, the label sold 40% of its shares to Polygram Records. By 1983, Barclay’s focus shifted, and the label ceased its jazz releases. Its catalog also proudly includes the celebrated music of Dalida. 𝐄𝐬𝐭. 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓
