The Beauvoir Household #35496402
Description
The Beauvoir Family The Beauvoirs trace their roots to French nobility, fleeing political unrest and settling in America’s 13 colonies. They arrived in the Virginia Colony, just southeast of what would later become Washington, D.C. In 1799, the family built a grand manor in Virginia and began to establish themselves in American politics. In 1812, a war in Virginia broke out and the Beauvoir home was raided and burned down. By the 1850s the family had built a much larger estate in Pennsylvania, they turned their focus to the rapidly expanding railroad industry, leaving their political connections to pursue the fortune the iron rail would bring them. Estates: The Beauvoir Manor, 1799-1812 (under construction) Fairford Hall, 1814-unknown (planning)
