2/14th Light Horse Regiment #35524859
Description
Information The 2nd/14th Light Horse Regiment (Queensland Mounted Infantry) is one of the oldest and most distinguished units in the Australian Army. Its lineage can be traced back to 1860 when volunteers were called by Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the first Governor of Queensland, to form the Queensland Infantry. The unit underwent several name changes in its early years, becoming the Queensland Light Horse in 1864 and the Moreton Mounted Infantry in 1885. Today, the 2nd/14th Light Horse Regiment is part of the 7th Brigade, based at Gallipoli Barracks in Brisbane. It is equipped with modern armored vehicles, including the Boxer Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle, the ASLAV Reconnaissance Vehicle, and the M1A1 Abrams main battle tank. The regiment continues to uphold its proud traditions while adapting to the evolving needs of Australia's defense forces. Motto: "Forward"
