Description

The Chechen Galanchozh regiment, also known as the "Galanchozh" Special Purpose Regiment, or "Galanchozh" special forces regiment, primarily consistent of prisoners pulled from prison to fight, played key roles in the fight against the opposition in 1993, oftenly fighting in close quarters, it would eventually go on to see heavy combat in and around grozny during the first battle of grozny, showing itself to be a mighty force, holding the lines at places such as alkhan-kala, mount yastrebinaya and goyta, eventually being garrisoned at the city of Bamut, being reformed under a its new leader, khizir khachukaev, where it would participate in the longest battle of the war, striking fear into the russians troops after ambushing and beating, and severely crippling the "rosich" special forces, the Galanchozh regiment, it would serve all the way until the end of the chechen republic's independence.
