Description
𝕯𝖊𝖚𝖙𝖘𝖈𝖍𝖊 𝕽𝖊𝖎𝖈𝖍𝖘𝖇𝖆𝖍𝖓 In accordance with the provisions of the Constitution passed in 1919, the former railways of the German states became the property of the Reich with effect from 1 April 1920. Initially known as the Deutsche Reichseisenbahnen, they were renamed the Deutsche Reichsbahn in 1921. Initially administered directly by the Reich Transport Ministry, in February 1924 it was spun off and run as an independent state-owned company. Developments such as the standard steam locomotives, the introduction of fast diesel railcars (Fliegender Hamburger) and the construction of the Berlin S-Bahn were recognised and imitated around the world.
