Description
The Perifanoi were the youth of Thēbai, serving as a reserve force within the Thebaioi Hoplitai. Often called to arms as part of their military training, they represented the next generation of Theban warriors. Though not as experienced as full citizen soldiers, the Perifanoi were skilled in basic combat techniques and supported the main force in battle. They played an essential role in bolstering Thebes' military strength and ensuring the continued readiness of the citizen army.
