Description
The Kingdom of Prussia was originally beaten by Napoleon in 1806 in the Napoleonic Wars at the Battles of Jena and Auerstedt and suffered a massive loss of territory and national prestige. The Treaty of Tilsit in 1807 forced Prussia into an unfavorable alliance with France. Yet, after years of reform under the leadership of men like General Blücher and Frederick William III, Prussia rebuilt its army and bureaucracy. It returned to the war against Napoleon in 1813, playing a critical role in the German campaign and later in the final defeat of Napoleon at Waterloo in 1815 as a member of the Seventh Coalition.
