◙▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬◙ Dunland, known as the "Dark Land," is a rugged region at the foot of the Misty Mountains, bordered by the Isen River and Rohan. Its inhabitants, the Dunlendings, are a proud people with a deep-rooted hatred for the Rohirrim, stemming from the loss of their land when the Northmen of Rohan settled in Calenardhon. Their history is marked by conflict, first with the Númenóreans, who destroyed their forests, and later with Gondor, which established garrisons in the area. Tensions escalated during the reign of Helm Hammerhand, when Wulf of Dunland attempted to claim the Rohan throne through marriage to Helm's daughter.
