1. Livgardebataljon, Den Kongelige Livgarde 1st Life Guard Battalion, The Royal Life Guard The Royal Life Guard was raised by King Frederik III in 1658 as a guard/ceremonial unit, garrisoned in the Rosenborg Castle in Copenhagen. As of the Army Act of 1937, the Life Guard had the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Life Guard Battalions. Soldiers in the Life Guard fiercely fought for a short amount of time on 9 April, 1940, in Amalienborg Palace.
