The Ministry of Home Affairs of the People’s Republic of Burma served as the backbone of internal governance, security, and political control. It oversaw law enforcement, domestic administration, and the coordination of local people’s councils, functioning as both a civil authority and an instrument of party supervision. The ministry controlled the People’s Police Force, internal security bureaus, and intelligence organs tasked with monitoring dissent, suppressing counter-revolutionary activity, and ensuring loyalty to the Communist Party. Beyond policing, it directed the registration of citizens, management of local militias, and oversight of regional administration, effectively tying provincial governance to the central party-state apparatus.
