Tiandihui Kongsi #35756368
Description
Tiandihui, known as the Heaven and Earth Society, was a secret brotherhood that emerged in 17th-century China. It was formed as a response to the rule of the Qing Dynasty, which many Han Chinese viewed as foreign oppressors. Members of Tiandihui swore loyalty not to any emperor or state, but to Heaven and Earth themselves — a sacred bond symbolizing justice, brotherhood, and defiance against tyranny. Over time, the society spread across southern China and into Southeast Asia, including the Malay world. It carried with it a deep-rooted philosophy of mutual protection, honor codes, and secret rituals. In many historical accounts, Tiandihui became the foundation for later triads and underground brotherhoods, blending resistance, ritual, and a hidden social structure.
